28 January 2009 Earthshine
This image was taken on the same date 28 January 2009 but at the slightly later time of 18:11UT when the sky was a bit darker. This is a 2 second exposure which has brought up nicely the dark maria (Lunar “seas”) and some craters (bright spots) on the dark side of the moon, lit by reflected sunlight from the Earth. Some background stars are also visible.
