One of the world's most experienced and sucessful space scientists. Having frequently appeared on BBC's "Sky at Night" he has worked on Hubble, Giotto, Cassini Huygens, Beagle 2 to name but a few missions. He is currently teamleader on ExoMars (ESA's first Mars rover mission) and is a researcher for an instrument on the Rosetta mission to Comet 46P/Wirtanen.

Discovery Channel and BBC TV star Professor John Zarnecki will give Astronomy Ireland's New Year Lecture "Touchdown on Titan", on Monday 12 January, 8pm.
On 14th January 2005, ESA’s Huygens probe landed on the surface of Titan, Saturn’s largest moon. In addition, the Cassini “mothercraft” flies past Titan periodically giving further insights into this fascinating place. Highlights of the data from both Huygens and Cassini will be presented as well as plans for an ambitious return to Titan.
